Social Justice Overview
The UUFCO Social Justice Committee has a history of leading our congregational commitment to affirm and promote world community with peace, liberty and justice for all, and respect for the interdependent web of all existence. The possible areas of Social Justice engagement are manifold, so that choices are always being made. Different topics have been emphasized at different times and UUFCO’s Social Justice program will continue to evolve, as teams and individuals continue to provide energetic leadership for social justice projects and inform the congregation about important initiatives and legislative actions.
The main Social Justice initiatives at present (updated June 2017) are:
- Project GRACE (Giving Respect and Choosing Equality)
- Wildcat Wizards Tutoring Program (Elementary School)
- Environmental Action
- Other Initiatives include provision of meals for homeless and other needy people, collections for community organizations, and a variety of other initiatives.
