GREETERS DUTIES
Your role is to officially “welcome” visitors, friends and members
to Sunday services, talk with visitors during coffee and conversation, introduce them to others and encourage them to return.
1.
Arrive at the SAC sanctuary by 10:30 A.M.
2.
Set up greeters' tables: (The greeter supplies are in a plastic bin in the storage closet.)
A.
Members/Friends' Table: The table to the right of the storage closet is designated
for this purpose. Remove SAC materials.
Place them under the table. Put out Orders of Service, UUFCO name badge
trays, paper name tags with marker pens, children's name tags basket, and RE sign-up sheet.
All other materials (announcements, pledge cards, chalice lighter brochures,
Circle Supper sign-up sheets) are to be placed on the long narrow table in the foyer.
This will reduce congestion at the name tag table and make the additional materials more visible. Make sure the minister/speaker has a name badge.
B.
Visitors' Tables: There are two visitors' tables~~ one to the left of the storage
closet and the other is a small table near the west entrance. Remove SAC materials. Place them under the tables. Arrange
guest sign-in sheets with pens, paper name tags and markers, Orders of Service, welcoming folders and current newsletters
on both tables. Put the information rack containing brochures on the main visitors
table. The rack is on the floor beneath this table.
3.
Welcoming: Watch for visitors. Be proactive in approaching them and asking
if they are visiting for the first time. Welcome them. Have them sign the guest sign-in sheet so they can receive our newsletters. (E-mail addresses are helpful.) Ask them to make a paper name tag. Give them an Order of Service, Welcoming folder and copy of the current newsletter. After the service begins, watch for latecomers.
Direct them to empty chairs, set up extra chairs if needed.
4.
Attendance/Offering: Count the number of adults and children separately. Enter both
numbers on the guest sign-in sheets. Stay by the greeters' tables until the offering
is announced. Then go to the front of the sanctuary and help pass the collection
baskets (2/3) making sure they get to everyone. Wait for the music to be finished. Return the collection baskets to the platform host who will verbally acknowledge the
gifts and then be seated.
5.
Coffee and conversation: Make conversation with visitors or newcomers who are not engaged.
Help answer questions about UU and make introductions. Invite them to
return. If you need others to help you "host" newcomers, introduce them to a
member of the Membership Committee.
6.
Clean-up: Give the guest sign-in sheets to Kathy Day. File name badges in trays and put all supplies back in the plastic
bin. Return the bin to the storage closet.
Place brochures rack under table. Return SAC materials to their previous
locations.
